mushrooms painted using gouache paint

The original photograph was taken with the artwork under glass, so I'm sorry for the slight 'misty' look to the image. This is shown just less than life size.

Gouache on Saunders Hot Pressed paper and painted as a 'vignette'. Vignette is pronounced "vin-'yet" and in painting, is a picture where the edges fade into the background paper.

The Gouache paint was thinned and various washes were used for the under painting of the ground area. Thicker paint of different colours were 'dropped in' to the under-painting while it was still wet.
The mushroom themselves were painted with thicker paint to give them 'substance' and contrast.
This painting is sold.

Gouache Painting Techniques book now available.
