pencil and derwent watercolour pencil for the beech tree Pencil sketch of a Beech Tree.

This sketch was for the alignment of the branches as they left the tree, the sketch was for the video, Realistic Trees in Watercolour. I used a 2B pencil for the main drawing and an 8B Derwent watercolour pencil for the additional tones.

The bottom left hand corner shows the 8B Derwent watercolour pencil used to make a 'palette', with water added, to produce values for the shading of the main trunk and significant branches. Drawn from life.
